Fast, simplified accounting for refrigerant emissions to accelerate reductions and remove the risk of missing net-zero targets.

Just like a financial accountant

— for your refrigerant stocks and emissions

We help organisations stay ahead of the increasing compliance requirements and manage the associated risks.

The mandatory phase-down of certain refrigerants (e.g. HFCs) has the potential to increase costs dramatically. Having an accurate inventory supported by our advisory services directly reduces costs - less replacement gas, less money spent on outdated systems and avoidance of fines.

We assist organisations of all sizes - large or small across all sectors.

Some of the common challenges and questions faced by our clients

  • How much refrigerant is within my organisation and what are the emission risks?

  • How can I confidently provide transparency to customers, suppliers, markets and shareholders about all my refrigerant emissions

  • How can I get my contractors aligned and accountable for refrigerant used during equipment maintenance?

  • How can I align my efforts in refrigerant management with ESG reporting?

  • What steps can I take to reduce costs from refrigerant and energy usage?

  • How can I identify the equipment most at risk of generating emissions?

  • What software tools are available to help manage my inventories?

Let us help build your Refrigerant Inventory

In simple terms, your inventory is all of the refrigerant under your care. For most companies the majority is contained in equipment (refrigeration, air-conditioning, data centre cooling, vehicles etc) and some in spare or maintenance stocks.

It is vital to have an accurate inventory to understand which equipment is leaking and which equipment is at risk. The inventory is the foundation for emissions reporting and developing meaningful reduction plans.

We understand that many organisations lack the internal resources or capabilities to build an inventory - that is where we come in.

We make sure you get it right

Getting the inventory right can be challenging. You need to understand the equipment, the types of refrigerant and leakage rates. The implications of getting it wrong are significant in terms of compliance, cost, safety and social license to operate. We also understand that some equipment may be under lease or under third parties which adds additional complexity.

We are here to help however. We’ve worked with customers across many different sectors and industries, with facilities big and small. We’ve seen equipment of all types and our background in energy management means we also know how to complete the emissions picture.

Rein in the Fugitives

Direct emissions from Refrigerants are included in Scope 1 and Scope 3 emissions reporting. If they come from your own equipment (i.e. leaks or fugitive emissions) then they are classed as Scope 1. We use the GHG Protocol as the basis of our emissions reporting services.

Most organisations also have suppliers or customers (upstream and downstream) that have refrigerants emissions - these come under Scope 3 (for example your cloud service provider’s data centre cooling). Indirect emissions from energy use should also be accounted for.

We use the latest software tools to aid the process of collating all the inventory and emissions information - making it faster and more cost-effective.

We collate the information, build a digital inventory, provide the insights and do the reporting for you

How it works.

  • Step 1 - Collate.

We collate and verify the refrigerant data with your input. To determine your current readiness level we provide a simple survey to start the process. The refrigerant data includes the type, weight installed in equipment and in spare & maintenance inventories - wherever it is in the world.

  • Step 2 - Digitise.

We enter the collected data into our refrigerant accounting software system. If you have your own existing software we can work with that also or alternatively help you build your own in-house system depending on the needs.

  • Step 3 - Calculate.

One of the primary reasons for the inventory is to determine what is leaking - where and how much. This has a direct impact on operating cost and emissions and we use the software tools to calculate the leak rates and to track their behaviour over time.

  • Step 4 - Insights.

We create a clear and concise report which provides the critical information - how much refrigerant is being used (top-up costs), the leak rates and top offenders along with the all-important emissions associated with the leaks. As an additional option we can also include the energy related emissions from the equipment to further increase the accuracy of the reporting.
